Our environment and diets carry an astonishing variety of chemicals, some of which are toxic to the body even in moderate amounts, and most of which are strenuous on your body’s natural detox processes in modest or high amounts. As well as doing a few body detox programs a year, you can keep up a healthy body by shifting your normal routine diet toward a clean, natural diet. In addition to supplying year round body detoxification, a cleansing diet will help you maintain improved health, improved energy and mood, and a respectable weight. Many people have experienced enduring weight loss with a cleansing diet.
The ideal way to change over to a cleansing diet for weight loss and health is to consume more fresh fruits and vegetables and decrease your intake of fatty foods, processed foods and sugary foods. Here are a few rules of thumb for what foods to include in your cleansing diet:
2-5 pieces of fresh fruit every day. Limit bananas and dried fruits. Dried fruits can be soaked overnight.
2 salads every day, at lunch and dinner.
2 servings of Grilled chicken (not fried!), fish or tofu for your protein. Lean meat occasionally.
Vegetable juice several times a week. Best veggies are cucumber, celery, carrot, beets and parsley. If you don’t have time or equipment to juice your own vegetable juice, purchase it fresh in a large quantity, part it into 2 oz portions and freeze for future use.
Sea vegetables (seaweed) regularly. Ground dulse and kelp are easy to use. Granulated seaweeds can even be used as a salt substitute.
And, naturally, drink more water. Try to increase your consumption to a gallon a day of fresh, spring water. Some of this can be unsweetened herbal tea. No flavored, sweetened drinks. They do not hydrate, they just add more substances to your body’s detoxification system.
